All in the Game: "Who Am I?"

Redartz:  Good day, everyone, and welcome to another work week. Yes, Monday is here. So what better excuse to have a little fun?  For today's "All in the Game", we shall play a little guessing game. I'll start us off by describing a comic character, then the first one to correctly identify that character follows up with a description of a character for the next player to identify. The gimmick: you give the clues in the character's voice! Kind of like the old game show "What's My Line"; but also kinda not like it. To narrow the parameters a little, let's limit it to Bronze age supporting characters. Define that as you will. So how many characters can we describe in a day? Let's find out. I'll start:

" I was a neighbor of a certain photographer who seemed to go out a lot. We were always friendly, but never dated. His loss... more recently, I've been the assistant to the mayor of NYC."

Who am I?

I'm elderly and frail, I'm always having heart attacks and I'm terrified of spiders.

I made mine so difficult that nobody's guessed it ;)

Are you Stephen Walker from the Steve does comics blog?

The Prowler said...

Are you May Parker, Peter's Aunt?

I'm the long suffering nurse to a frail and lame physician. It seems like just when things are about to heat up, he excuses himself to another room and then I don't see him for a week or two...

(We broke up
yeah, it's tough
most guys would've been crushed
Wastin' their time
Wonderin' where they went wrong
No way, not me
Hey, I'm doing just fine
I'm not afraid of movin' on

It's easy going out on a Friday night
Easy every time I see her out
I can smile, live it up
The way a single guy does
But what she, what she don't know
Is how hard it is to make it look so
Easy

[Natasha Bedingfield]
The truth is
That I miss lyin' in those arms of his
But I don't ever let it show
I laugh and I act like
I'm having the time of my life
as far as he knows

It's easy goin' out on a Friday night
Easy, everytime I see him out
I can smile, live it up
The way a single girl does
But, what he, what he don't know
is how hard it is to make it look so
Easy
Oh, it's easy

Oh, it's easy goin' out on a Friday night
Oh, it's easy every time I see him out
I can smile, live it up
Forget about the way it was
But what she
Oh, what he don't know
What she don't know
Is how hard it is to make it look so
Easy
Look so easy).

PS: Youse guys can use my "lyric thing" anytime you want!!!

Colin must be Aunt May-fly!

I am going to say Aunt May is correct so throw some questions out gents.

Prowl I am going to say Jane Foster so here is mine...

"Some may call me a mad scientist or a crazed surgeon but I know I am cutting edge. I've carved up some kangaroo and hammerhead meat and always did it for the better. Some may say I'm quick as a wisp but I'm more concerned about being a genius. If you don't believe me, be careful what you think because I believe in explosive implants. Who am I?"

Mike Wilson said...

@Martinex: Sounds like Jonas Harrow. Try this one:

"I'm a pretty groovy guy and I got lots of superhero friends, but sometimes I wish people would notice me for myself. It got so bad, I told this crazy cat where my friends hung out and he almost blew them all away. My friends forgave me though, cause they're cool cats and chicks."

Redartz said...

Mike W.- hmmmm, Snapper Carr perhaps? I'm tossed between him and Rick Jones. So while awaiting your judgement, here'so another:
"I used to hang around my rather hot-headed friend a lot, trying to cool him down a bit. But not so much in later years. But I did end up spending time with a pretty strong woman, who had a very verdant complexion by the way.

Wyatt Wingfoot.

What a great learning experience this is, Redartz. I got out of comics before he ended up with She Hulk.

I'll give you a twofer.

"We spent our time time trying to take down that Panther Devil but we were really just comic relief punching bags for him. Come to think of it, our boss used to slap us around too. God we were losers."

Tayete and Kizibe.

"I spent most of my life taking care of this pretty hot-headed, smart-aleck blonde guy, trying - without success, mostly - to keep him out of trouble. I thought he would settle down when that pretty veterinarian came to live us, but no such luck..."

Mike Wilson said...

@Redartz: You were right the first time ... it was Snapper Carr. On the other hand, I have no idea who Edo's referring to.

ZABU!!! It's Zabu. He had his "paws" full even after Shanna The She Devil became Kazar's companion.

Okay, here's another one:

I am the long serving and trustworthy domestic. I was in service to the family long before their tragedy and continue to serve their son, the new Man of the house.

(What time you coming out?
We starting losing light.
I'll never make it right
If you don't want me around,
I'm so excited for the night,
All we need's my bike and your enormous house
You said someday we might
When I'm closer to your height
'Til then we'll knock around and see
If you're all I need

Don't you see me?
I, I think I'm falling, I'm falling for you.
Don't you need me?
I, I think I'm falling, I'm falling for you.
And on this night and in this light,
I think I'm falling, I'm falling for you.
Maybe you'll change your mind
I think I'm falling, I think I'm falling.

I'm caught on your coat again.
You said, "Oh, no, it's fine."
I read between the lines
And touched your leg again, again.
I'll take it one day at a time.
Soon you will be mine.
Oh, but I want you now, I want you now
When the smoke is in your eyes,
You look so alive.
Do you fancy sitting down with me?
Maybe?

If you're all I need
According to your heart,
My place is not deliberate,
Feeling of your arms
I don't wanna be your friend,
I wanna kiss your neck

Don't you see me?
I, I think I'm falling, I'm falling for you.
Don't you need me?
I, I think I'm falling, I'm falling for you..
And on this night and in this light
I think I'm falling, I'm falling for you.
Maybe you'll change your mind).

PS: Zabu....

Edo- Zabu! Great poser, you had me stumped!

Prowl- think I've got yours, but I'll give someone else a chance. Oh, and thanks for the ok on your lyric play. I plan to put that to use soon...

And here's one more for you all:

"I'm the companion to a very unusual fellow who seems "stuck in a world he never made". I keep his cigars lit, only fair as we first met when he rescued me with the help of one of those stogies..."

Stevie Hunter.

Here's one that might be a bit of stumper, too:

"I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. We are Groot. ... I am Groot?"

Mike Wilson said...

@Edo: I know ... Rocket Raccoon!

Edo Bosnar said...

Nope, Mike. But close. I knew that one would be tricky... :P

Redartz said...

Ok Edo, it's gotta be Black Bolt........

William said...

Since no one ever answered it, the answer to Prowler's clue is Alfred Pennyworth.

Here's one:

"I hate all these costumed clowns running around my city. I also don't like lazy teenage photographers. The only person I trust is my barber."

Redartz said...

William- of course, that must be Jolly Jonah Jameson, the one- man campaign to preserve the flat-top.

Ok, let's see if another will go.

"What do you mean, 'supporting character'? By Erlik, that Cimmerian lout must have put you up to this!"
