BitBA Sunday Special: Mother's Day!

Martinex1: We interrupt our regularly scheduled Sunday break to wish all the Moms out there a Happy Mother's Day!   Enjoy time with the family today!   But since you are here at BitBA, take a look at some of our Mother's Day related material and share your favorite mother and grandmother memories.   Cheers all!

We have a special "Two Questions" lined up plus more....

QUESTION 1: Comic books don't often depict moms (or mother types) in their character lineup, but of those they do - who are the best?

QUESTION 2:   On the other hand, mothers seem omnipresent on television shows - who are the best TV moms?

And here are a few newspaper comic strips that fit the theme of the day!   Enjoy!

Have a great day all!  And feel free to share what you are doing with your family today.

Hello.

Vision and Wanda had a baby? (My formative comic reading years didn't continue too long into the bronze age so this would all be new to me!) Thanks.

CH47 they actually had two babies - twins. It all started in the Vision /Scarlet Witch's second mini- series. But there is much more to that story so I will let you discover it yourself. West Coast Avengers during the Byrne years are a starting point.

"Vision and Wanda had a baby?" Well, not exactly :)

As for your questions, I guess I'd go with Aunt May for comics moms, though she was pretty overbearing in the early years. She mellowed out later on, though. For TV moms, I kinda like Marge Simpson. A bit of a stick-in-the-mud, but always does what's best for her kids in the end. (And she deserves a medal for putting up with all of Homer's crap.)

It will be a while before Charlie gets to read the Wanda-is-a-mom episodes. Charlie just discovered Byrne's Fantastic Four "Visionaries" and that will occupy me for a while! (CHarlie likes speaking of himself in the 3rd person LOL!)

In case any of you missed the previews of what is coming this week at BitBA - you can plan on a spoiled discussion of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 tomorrow. On Tuesday we of course have Follow the Leader. Later in the week we are hopping on the Retro Metro. And we should have a lively discussion when we discuss "You know you are a Bronze Ager when..." Cheers.

I enjoyed The Waltons growing up and as an adult feel even more appreciative of the values that they tried to maintain. Maybe overly sentimental, but they seemed happy despite so much hardship.

Not that fond of Mrs. Brady. Liked Mrs. Partridge.

Comic book moms? Poor Sue Richards, but probably the best of the lot since Martha Kent was mainly in flashbacks or it seemed that way to me. Yes, she raised Superman, but Sue had more Franklin as a child stories. There was formative interaction, if that makes sense.
