Short Cuts: Comprehensive Lists!
Martinex1: With all of our knowledgeable friends here, I thought that once in a while I would throw out a simple question and see how many responses we could get and how long and comprehensive a list we could create.
The four pictures below may share a lot of things in common, but there is only one thing we will be discussing today.
Did you guess alliteration? We have the Fantastic Four, Noel Neill (or Lois Lane), Peter Parker, and Chris Claremont. There are so many examples of alliteration throughout comicdom. Are there tens, hundreds, or thousands of instances?
So the question for the day is: How many examples of alliteration that are somehow tied to comics can we identify? Can we create a comprehensive list?
Heroes, villains, secret identities, supporting characters, locations, teams, marketing statements, catch phrases, titles, creators, publishers, actors, are all fair game - as long as they are comic book related. Just add your alliterative answers into the current comment section. Hope this keeps you thinking throughout the day! Cheers!

Let's see. Off the top of my head and without too much thought:
Reed Richards
Dr Doom
Peter Parker
J Jonah Jameson
Curt Connors
Randy Robertson
Pepper Potts
Happy Hogan
Bruce Banner
Stephen Strange
Scott Summers
Warren Worthington
Matt Murdock
Silver Surfer
Crusher Creel
Paste Pot Pete
Rocket Racer
Clark Kent
Otto Octavius
Betty Brant
Blue Beetle
Black Bolt
Bouncing Boy
Captain Canuck
Frightful Four
Glory Grant
Green Goblin
Karate Kid
Kryptonite Kid
Lex Luthor
Light Lass
Lightning Lad
Linda Lee
Lori Lemaris
Mary Marvel
Ms. Marvel
Princess Python
Rocket Red
Susan Storm
Oh, and if non-superhero genres count:
Archie Andrews
Bugs Bunny
Captain Carrot
Clarabelle Cow
Coach Kleats
Daffy Duck
Daisy Duck
Dilton Doiley
Donald Duck
Gladstone Gander
Horace Horsecollar
Jughead Jones (and yes, I know his 'real' name is Forsythe, but come on...)
Little Lulu
Mickey Mouse
Minnie Mouse
Moose Mason (whose 'real' name is apparently Marmaduke, so it counts either way)
Porky Pig
And a few more I remembered from the LoSH milieu:
Chlorophyll Kid
Chemical King
Color Kid
Cosmic King
Emerald Empress
Lightning Lord
Porcupine Pete
Princess Projectra
White Witch
And the 4th World:
Big Barda
Big Bear
Glorious Godfrey
Granny Goodness
Funky Flashman
Mark Moonrider
Mr. Miracle
And some random baddies:
Lethal Legion
Living Laser
Rainbow Raider
Sinister Six
Squadron Sinister (oh heck, and the Squadron Supreme as well)
And the Squadron reminded me of these two:
Lady Lark
Power Princess
As for catchphrases, I thought of:
Leapin' Lizards (Little Orphan Annie)
Suffering Sappho (Wonder Woman, mainly in the Golden Age)
Robbie Robertson
Lana Lang
Dr. Doom
Baron Blood
Living Laser
Gorilla Grodd
That's what I got left off the top of my head.
Tin Tin
Don Di
Backinthe Bronzeage
Last two entries were attempt at humor:)
And Elizabeth "Betty" Ross (later Talbot) did FINALLY marry Bruce, to achieve alliterative ascension as Betty Banner.
Do we want to include some of the title+descriptor combos?:
Invincible Iron-Man
Savage Sub-Mariner
Spectacular Spider-Man
Deathlok the Demolisher
Umbu the Unliving (oh, GREAT one from Hulk #110!)
The Wondrous Wasp
Guardians of the Galaxy
Hmmm-- Kang the Conqueror. . . how'd he get missed?
Ha! FIN FANG FOOM!
And Bruce Banner gets a bonus point, since in an early issue of the Hulk, over-worked Stan called him BOB Banner for an entire issue, which led to the hilarious justification that his full name was actually ROBERT Bruce Banner (we all know this story, right?)-- granting him an alliterative "B" in all three of his names.
Kid Colt
Dum-Dum Dugan
. . . Funky Flashman. . .
HB
Hmm, we're getting some repeats. The find/search function is your friend, everybody.
Otherwise, Fin Fang Foom and Dum Dum Dugan – excellent, HB (I love the 3-letter whammies, like JJJ and Paste Pot Pete as well).
A few more I thought of:
Bucky Barnes
Captain Cold
Crimson Commando
Dinah Drake
Guy Gardner
Lady Lotus
Liberty Legion
Master Man
Red Raven
Richard Ryder
Rocket Raccoon
Ronnie Raymond
Star Slammers
Super Sabre
Tommy Tomorrow
Wally West
Warrior Woman
and, of course, the most blindingly obvious one, that I mentioned above under her catchphrase without thinking of actually listing her (I mean, seriously, duh…):
Wonder Woman
Some creator names:
Dick Dillon
Larry Lieber
Stan Sakai
And one that seems like it is, but technically isn't:
Beta Ray Bill
More creators;
Geoff Johns
Karl Kesel
Mark Millar
"Avengers Assemble"
The FANTASTIC Four first headquartered in the BAXTER BUILDING. Later, they moved to FOUR FREEDOM PLAZA. I think that blew up.
DC had Clark Kent, Marvel had KANG THE CONQUEROR...
Byrne introduced us to HEATHER HUDSON who took her husband's place as Vindicator in Alpha Flight.
One of the weakest ones was Ben Reilly as the Scarlet Spider. Doesn't really roll off the tongue.
Just an aside, the same company that gave us "Happy" Hogan also gave us Hogun the Grim. Almost bookends...
By the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth, this was a hard one...
(Well, the moon sank as the wind blew
And the street lights slowly died
Yeah they call you the wild one
Said stay away from her
Said she couldn't love no one if she tried
But then somethin' I saw in your eyes
Told me right away
That you were gonna have to be mine
The strangest feeling came over me down inside
No matter what it takes
I'll never get over how good it felt
When you finally held me
I will never regret baby
Those few hours linger on in my head forever
Well it's too bad but I want you
To know I understand
Yeah it's been a long time
But I don't mind, yeah it's all right
I understand
Because somethin' I saw in your eyes
Told me right away
That you were gonna have to be mine
The strangest feeling came over me down inside
I knew right away
I'd never get over how good it felt
When you finally kissed me
I will never regret baby
Baby, those few hours linger on in my head forever).
PS: Got 50 chipped!!! It's coming to America...
My friends and I have often played this game on long car trips (like when we drove to Milwaukee from upstate NY for GEN CON back in 2000)... We'd challenge each person to do 5 alliterative comic book names (civilian identities only) and it'd get harder and harder.
It looks like folks have gotten most of the ones I can think of. Edo got Black Bolt, but not his REAL name Blackagar Boltagon ;)
A more recent example is Quentin Quire (from Morrison's run on X-Men)
If I can think of others I'll come back
Getting tougher to think of some, but:
Lady Luck, Silk Spectre (from Watchmen), Donald Duck (does that count- if so add Daisy Duck, Mickey, Minnie and Mortimer Mouse), Sand Saref (Spirit villainess), Crypt Keeper (from EC Comics). Yeah, I'm looking waaaay back...
Erm, Redartz, see my second comment - I kind of beat you to the punch on a few of those Disney characters.
I finally remembered another of those triple whammies:
Man Mountain Marko
And I thought of another of those blindingly obvious ones:
Osvaldo Oyola ;)
Hmmm, most of the ones I was thinking of are gone (except Lois Lane, which everyone seems to have overlooked), but I can still come up with a few:
Samuel Stearns (aka the Leader, Hulk's nemesis)
Dinah Drake was mentioned, but what about her late husband, Larry Lance?
Billy Batson and Freddy Freeman (the Captains Marvel)
John Jameson
Junior Juniper and Pinky Pinkerton of the Howling Commandos
Red Ronin
and, since HB mentioned the whole "Robert Bruce Banner" thing, how about another classic Stan Lee gaffe when he referred to Spidey's alter ego as Peter PALMER?
Another triple threat;
Ding Dong Daddy
And how about a double double;
J'onn J'onzz Martian Manhunter
Edo, I refrained from being self-centered ;)
I thought of another few recent ones: Robbie Reyes (the new Ghost Rider) and Kamala Khan (the new Ms. Marvel) and Miles Morales (the new Spider-Man). Oh and Viv Vision (constructed "daughter" of the Vision, he also built his now deceased wife, which is creepy).
OH, and maybe I missed it, but how can no one have mentioned J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter?
Ah, Kilraven musta been posting the same time I was. . . (had to google the correct spelling of "J'onzz" ;)
Oh gosh! Even though I practically don't consider her a legitimate figure in the comic book MU-- we must acknowledge the singular Jessica Jones, yes?
HB
Edo- in the immortal vernacular of Homer Simpson, "D'ohhh!!!"
Brian Braddock (aka Captain Britain).
Minnie The Minx (character from British comic "The Beano").
Colin J - (if you are still awake in the UK, LOL!)
- Korky the Cat! (What an Icon from The Dandy!)
- Desperate Dan (Another Icon from The Dandy!)
O/wise
Betty Boop
Katy Keane
Tom Tomorrow
Charlie, I completely forgot about Desperate Dan but I did think of Korky the Cat - I didn't include him because his name is K and C even though they sound the same of course :)
Colin J - Biffo the Bear!!! Beano Legend!!! (I think it just needs the same sound, not necessarily the same letter?)
Billy Batson
Mary Marvel
Atom Ant (and Adam Ant, LOL)
Deputy Dog
Fred Flintstone
Go-Go Gophers
Polly Purebread
Tennessee Tuxedo
WOW!
I'm just taking it all in.
I apologize if these have been stated - I dont think I see them on any comment thus far ( but I am worried somehow I missed it):
Bob Bolling
Bob Brown
Make Mine Marvel
Merry Marching Society
Little Lotta
Richie Rich
Deputy Dog
maGilla Gorilla
Morocco Mole
Riff Raff
Secret Squirrel
Simon (bar) Sinister
Bam Bam
Chim CHim
Dudley Do-Right
FOR MY CHICAGO "HOMEYS": Dirty Dragon! Ray Raynor! Garfield Goose! Macintosh Mouse! Diver DAN!
CHICAGO HOMEYS (cont.): Captain Kangaroo! Romper Room! Charlie Chan! And pardon my error but it is Ray Rayner not Raynor!
OMG... how could I forget: Romberg Rabbit! Clutch Cargo!
Marvin Martian!!!
CH47 you are hitting close to home with the Chicago TV / WGN references. Cookie the Clown. Susie Snowflake. Ha.
There are more examples than I think I expected.
Drax the Destroyer, Silver Sable, the Secret Society of Super-Villains, the Molten Man, Disco Dazzler, the Fatal Five and Power Pack!
Hmm ... do Pym Particles and the Fatal Flames of Faltine count? Also, Hulk is sometimes called the Green Goliath! :)
Oh, wait, my home is T & T - Trinidad & Tobago!
- Mike 'MMM - make mine Marvel. Where's Google when you need it?' from Trinidad & Tobago.

Nightmare
Yandroth
Dr. Sun
