I'll choose:

Fantastic Four #98 - I first read this story in Marvel UK's The Titans dated July 28th 1976. The Titans was printed sideways in "landscape" format and the cover was re-drawn to fit the landscape cover.

Marvel Two-In-One: The Thing & Warlock - I bought this one when it first came out !

Space 1999 - I loved the first season of Space 1999. The second season was never broadcast in my area of the UK but I've since seen a few episodes...oh dear, a huge drop in quality.

Tarzan - I only bought one issue of Marvel's Tarzan (not this one) which I bought alongside an issue of Marvel's John Carter, Warlord Of Mars which was the only issue of that comic I ever bought also.

Another moon issue that comes to mind is King Conan #3 - "The Red Moon Of Zembabwei". And on the subject of Robert E. Howard's creation - I'm currently reading an e-book called "The Solomon Kane Series" featuring all the original stories that appeared in 'Weird Tales' from 1928-1932. I remember Marvel's version of Solomon Kane but I've never read the original R.E.H. stories till now - they are terrific !

Are any BITBA regulars in the path of the solar eclipse or planning to attend the event ? The most recent solar eclipse seen from Great Britain was on August 11th 1999 which could only be witnessed from Cornwall, way down in the south-west of the UK (and it was cloudy anyway). It was once believed that events like solar eclipses were a bad omen - the 1999 eclipse certainly was for my family because my father died suddenly 3 weeks later on September 2nd !

Colin- I live just outside the zone of totality (that sounds kind of cool). Our area should see about 96 percent coverage. I'll be watching...

Colin J - I just dropped my son off for University and he is at ground zero for the eclipse. Apparently they expect many thousands of visitors too.

Anyhow:

1) Give me the Tin Tin! Ever since marrying a lady from France and discovering Tin Tin, Herge's works (he's got 2(?) where Tin Tin is on the moon) have grabbed me big time!

2) The FF 38. The first "back issue" FF i ever acquired. Don't remember how I got it.

3)Flinstones with Gazoo! Long time since I've seen that li'l dude anywhere!

4) Moon Mullins! Been way too long since I've indulged in Moon!

Charlie worked overtime this week and squeezed an extra quarter out of "the Man!" So I'm treating myself to an RC Cola and a MOON PIE! (And 20 years from now, when someone else reads my Tin Tin cause I might be "pushing up daisies by then" they'll find some Moon Pie chocolate stuck on the pages, LOL, and wonder "what was this kid eating?!)

On the run-- (two-show day--)-- but I am COMPELLED to draw attention to CREATURES ON THE LOOSE: MAN-WOLF #s 30-33, & 36. That brief run had some incredibly good covers (AND early Perez interior art in the later issues!), and the Moon was, of course, a given most of the time--

Hey - if anyone is still out there, lol... I have a recollection from the late 60s (?) of seeing Superman race someone on the moon on the cover? Flash? Help?

I'd probably take Wonder Woman (because the cover looks cool); Spectacular Spidey; Moon Knight (duh); and Tintin, because I haven't read that one ... and as Charlie Horse mentioned, it's the second "moon-themed" adventure for Tintin, following up on Destination Moon.

I'd love to see Race for the Moon, with Jack Kirby's art inside!

I remember reading that Tintin and its companion moon story as a kid and really enjoying them. A few years ago I read a bunch of Tintin books and enjoyed them all.

Moon Knight! Awesome series.

Marvel Team-Up with Spider-Man and Warlock. Dramatic image there with Spidey in space.

Those are my 4 I'd like to read, but covers that catch my eye: Monster Hunters by Zeck, DC Comics Present #1 (classic cover by Garcia Lopez--wish he'd drawn this whole series), Moon Mullins (barely heard of this character, but curious).

Mike, Garrett - It's great to hear you read Tin Tin as well! Such well crafted stories. I think I may breaK out "Destination/ Objective Moon" this weekend! The cover alone always grabbe me, though perhaps a bit simplistic by today's standards. But hey, he did it in like 1950. One of my fav Tin Tins to be sure!

You guys ever have a chance to read the Herge's "TinTin in the Soviet Union?" It was finally released in the 2000s (?) after being banned by France for a good 75 years I think. (The Communists strongly objected to being portrayed as Communists, LOL.)

What? No Eclipso?!

Charlie Horse: I did read "Tintin in the Soviet Union" not too long ago; Herge wasn't a big fan of Communism, that's for sure! I read the Tintin books in French ... or at least I try to. My French isn't perfect, so I have to keep looking stuff up!

Mike - I read many in French too, at the inlaws house in France. My wife / kids help me with translating, lol, much faster than a dictionary! I must commend you for your dedication to read the Version Original!

Neat thing was that the inlaws have the original Tintins before the censorship kicked in. Near as I can tell, the censors removed word balloons, leaving the art intact.

No - Herge was not a fan of communism and his portrayal of them in that book, which was done in 1930 (within a decade of the revolution which had denigrated into Stalin's Reign of Terror), seems quite accurate to me.

Charlie- you mentioned a Superman/Flash race cover. Probably was Flash 175, has them racing (with Superman winning) on an alien surface with a background of space. Pretty cool issue, has the JLA and gold kryptonite too...

Red that has to be it! I read it when I was a wee lad on a "weekender" family vacation to the Wagon Wheel Resort in Illinois. Not sure how I got my mitts on it... maybe laying around in a sitting area of some sort. They also had a few comics on sale at a small magazine rack.

I've never read either of those Warlock appearances, and I'm a Warlock fan! Something to look forward to someday.

Got that issue of The Shadow with the Avenger, cool to see it.

And I got that Quasar issue. There's something irresistible about Speedster Running Race stories!
