Hot Coffee, A Muffin, and Sunday!

Martinex1: Sunday breakfasts are the best.  For some reason the week-starting morning always seems a bit like a holiday; everybody is relaxed and easy going.. The coffee is brewing and the bread is toasting.  The pace is slow and casual.  The same goes for Sundays here at BitBA. So kick back and relax...

THIS PAST WEEK:

As always, it was a pretty jam packed week so if you missed anything feel free to peruse the previous offerings.   The past six days we recalled our first television viewing experiences, discussed the music and talent of Elton John, looked at comic covers with timepieces and scales, displayed our oddest comics, reminisced about old radio programs, and compared Game of Thrones to Marvel's characters.

REMINDER:

If you have any suggestions for our site or if you actually would like to pen a guest post, please contact us at backinthebronzeage@gmail.com.
And as Redartz mentioned last week, we are working on a post that involves your input so here again are Red's comments:

You all may recall a couple of months ago when we tried a post entitled "Show and Tell", in which we asked for photographic and verbal submissions from everyone? Well, coming in August is the second installment. We will be looking at 'fan art'; any artwork, drawings, paintings, etc. that any of you may have done. In past columns we've heard about some of you who have created your own characters, or even  full comics. Some may have done sketches of your favorite existing characters. Now is your chance to show off your efforts! If you have any such artwork, please consider emailing it to us at backinthebronzeage@gmail.com. More details to come.

COMING THIS WEEK:

We will be looking at gas stations, cartoon monsters, large hands, and other wildly unrelated topics each day.   We may be limited to the Bronze Age, but who says that isn't the age of infinite imagination?  You can expect comic books, cartoons, and another episode of Follow the Leader this week.

SUNDAY FUNNIES:

Since breakfast was big and filling,  let's take a look at comic strip diets and exercise in today's roundup.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Yesterday I mentioned a parody online of the Game of Thrones, setting it at a medieval theme park using redubs.  Well here I share a link to the hilarious "Bad Lip Reading" work.  Enjoy!  (And if you ever have time check out some of their Star Wars redubs).   Cheers all... have a good week!

The Vegangelical in our household (til college starts again in the fall) has fiercely curtailed our enjoyment of hearty, big, "traditional" breakfasts-- although to be fair we'd already let go of pork products. But-- no eggs is killin' us! (For several years we kept a small flock of yard-ducks which provided us with plenty of eggs that no ethical aspersion could be cast upon-- but mortality has taken its toll on them, and lordy are they a lot of effort to maintain. That era is now behind us as well. . . )

And yet-- I'm finding a nice daily comfort in, say, a cup of watermelon, and a couple of slices of wheat toast with honey, peanut butter, and sliced banana. BOY is that tasty-! Have to get the honey on there w/out being caught, though--- honey's not vegan. . .

Marti and Red ate all the pancakes, huh???!

Come on by boys! I've got company (from France) out the wa-zoo and just cooked up a bunch of blueberry pancakes! Plenty more for the stalwart backers of BITBA!

Like HB, though, we are well down the road of veganism (easy enough if the vegan evangelizer is doing the cooking!) so the cakes are cooked with coconut oil, not butter.

And, we had a heaping side of sauteed kale from the garden. And a smoothie of beets, kale, and carrots from the garden.

Not a speck of bacon to be found, though I did cook up some sunny side eggs. (Organic, pasture raised, pasture foraged... You can go online and see a picture of your hen!)

HB - why don't you move next door and raise fowl again for the eggs? You would save me a bunch of money!

As for breakfasts, I'm now on cherry tomatoes, avocado's, healthy breads, hard-boiled eggs and leafy spinach.. For as 'lean' as I look, I'm still a tall fellow and had to lose 5-10 pounds for the military..., no more milk-based items, creamers, deserts, etc..
