The silence is killing me! I am going to randomly throw this out but don't intend for it to be the question of the day.

Do you prefer "Paste Pot Pete " or "The Trapster"? If you don't like either, which is quite possible, propose an alternative?

You've got to use your name if you propose an alternative.

I am going to propose Charlie the Caulker.

Well, I think that Pete himself preferred Trapster otherwise he would have just "stuck" with PPP. And so, just like I'll follow Muhammed Ali in his name preference, I'll follow Trapster on this.

Proposed alternatives: Sticky Wicked, Gangster Glue (team-up with Crusher Creel in the works), Adhesive Adversary, and Tacky Attacker.

Cheers!

When I first told my son the Trapster's original name he laughed for a full 5 minutes.
It's now an inside joke between us.

What issue was it that Pete got angry when our hero called him his original moniker?

Paste Pot Pete for me!

I prefer Trapster, definitely.

Killraven: I think there have been a few issues where Spidey made fun of Trapster's original name ... Spectacular Spider-Man 158 comes to mind. In the Spider-Man/Human Torch mini-series (which is a "continuity insert" set in the past), there's a scene where Spidey can't stop laughing at the name Paste-Pot Pete, with the implication that it was Spidey's mockery that caused Pete to change his name to Trapster.

Hike, Yeah it was either Spidey or someone from the F.F. but prior to 1981, since I was out by then.
I'm now on a mission!

Good heavens! I just googled PPP and learned he grew up in Gary, Indiana like me and Michael Jackson!

Seems like Mike W is correct as far as why he changed his name, lol!

The funniest paragraph in Wiki on PPP starts off, "Saddened by his constant defeats..." Poor PPP, so, so sad... I truly never thought of a villain (I guess he is not a super villain?) being sad?

One of the best questions ever...thanks CH47!

I have a nostalgic admiration for Paste Pot Pete from Strange Tales issues. The beret and the bucket were so strangely "old school" to see in Marvel comics.

I like the suggestions - particularly Sticky Wicked and Tacky Attacker. Clever.

How about Peter Plaster or Concrete Pete or The Cementor? Or perhaps just plain old Super-Glue! He needs a catch phrase "Stick around!"

Marti the Mastic Meanie!

I'm pretty sure there must be a catchphrase to suggest itself already in his dialogue, something like, "Stay glued!" or "I'm gonna paste you!"

Kinda makes you appreciate how ol' Stan the Man came up with these things in the first place when you try to do it yourself.

Cheers!

By the way, last week Red asked about covers that caused us to buy but the story was disappointing.,,

I just bought #1 and #2 of Batman Shadow team up from Dynamite Publishing and I'm confused as hell and thus disappointed, lol,

I'm a sucker for pulp and old-time radio stars so The Shadow always hooks me.

If I understand correctly Batman has a son named Damian now?

He was the Trapster when I was first "exposed" to the character in Amazing Spider-Man #215, so that's how I'll always think of him.
There was a time where I bought up every Frightful Four story I could find (or afford), so I've read most of Pete's appearances.
Having said that, I've always thought he was a C-lister at best. A glue gun? Oh well, Stan, Jack & co. were busy creating the Marvel Universe, every antagonist can't be a "classic villain."

@Charlie: Yeah, Damian is Batman's son by Talia; I think he was introduced in the Son of the Demon Graphic Novel, which was originally considered an imaginary story but was later made canonical. Batman tried to train Damian to be the new Robin, but it wasn't easy ... he started out by taking the late Jason Todd's commemorative uniform and wearing it!
